May Meeting- Wildflower Walk + Intro to Plant ID with Janelle

  • Horn Rapids Park West Richland, WA United States (map)

Join CBWNPS member and botanist Janelle Downs for a wildflower stroll and a short workshop on how to make plant observations and identify the wildflowers at your feet.  Meet at Horn Rapids Park at the parking lot with restrooms near the boat launch on the east side of the park.  We will take a short jaunt up the hill to see what's in bloom.  While on our walk we will gather a few blooming specimens to take back to the Rattlesnake Ridge Riders building to the south side of the camping area.  There we will use microscopes, hand lenses, and some handy handouts and other resources to build skills to help you recognize and identify common wildflower species.  Bring some snacks or a sandwich and water/beverage if you think you might want to have a bite while we work with the plants. Hope you can join us.
