Volunteer - Work Party at Leslie Groves North

  • Snyder St. and Harris Ave., Richland, WA 2303 Harris Ave Richland, WA, 99352 United States (map)

Get outside and get your hands in the dirt out at the Leslie Groves North Restoration Project! Join us to clear out some weeds to make room for native plants. The cheatgrass is prickly – so sturdy garden or work gloves, boots, long pants, long-sleeved shirt are recommended and don’t forget water and a hat. We’ll be weeding mainly prickly lettuce, tumbleweeds, salsify, and mustard.

Where to meet: Leslie Groves North Native Plant/Habitat Restoration Project at Harris and Snyder Street in Richland. Meeting place - Look for a trash can along the bike path a little ways north of Snyder St. We’ll be in the field. meet along Harris Ave.

The Leslie Groves North Naturalized area is an ongoing collaboration between CBWNPS, the Lower Columbia Basin Audubon Society, and the City of Richland. Together, volunteers have turned a weedy unused area into a native habitat full of sagebrush, bitterbrush and native flowers and grasses. This project has been underway since 2006!

If you can help, contact the powerhouse behind this project, Debbie Berkowitz, at secretary@lcbas.org so she can let you know if anything changes.

What to Bring- Water and your favorite weeding tool.

Other work parties in May will be scheduled on weekdays as needed. If you’re interested in getting emails about work parties, please contact Debbie at secretary.lcbas@gmail.com.
