Wildflower Walk at McBee Ridge and Wildfire Recovery Drive/Hike

  • Columbia Basin Chapter, WNPS (map)

Meet at the Park and Ride just to the east of the roundabout at the Benton City exit off I-82 uphill past the gas station. This trip will have several stops. First, we will walk through the recent burned area along McBee Road to view recovery after wildfire and learn about which native plants are resilient to wildfire and those that are not. We will proceed to the top of the ridge to walk along the rocky ridge top and view those natives that prefer lithosols and see the ecotone between the rocky soils and the deeper silt loams. Trip duration is likely about 3 to 3.5 hours including driving time. Bring lunch/water/snacks
