Salvage at Badger Mountain

  • Trailhead Park Badger Flats Richland, WA, 99352 United States (map)

Later in September the City of Richland is going to expand the parking lot at Trailhead Park at the foot of Badger Mountain and the city has granted permission to salvage native plants and seeds within the footprint of the future parking lot.  If you’d like to learn how to salvage and plant SMALL native plants for your yard and nurse them through the fall season, join us.  You’re welcome to come just to learn the ethics and techniques of salvaging native plants and seeds.  If you actually want to salvage plants Monday, bring sturdy boxes, buckets, or other large flat containers to put your plants into, some newspaper or rags that can be moistened to keep the roots cool and moist, gloves and a shovel (a trowel won’t work very well for salvaging).  Warning - You’ll need to put the plants in the ground within a day or so if you want them to survive. If you have questions, contact Mickie Chamness at 430-5776.
